Jay Levy – Partner

Jay Levy is a co-founder and partner of Zelkova Ventures.  Jay focuses most of his time in working with the current portfolio company and looking at new investments in the software-as-a-service, internet media and green tech space. 

Jay launched his entrepreneurial career while in High School with his first web-services firm, providing web development services to early stage companies.  After high school, Jay moved to New Jersey to attend Rutgers University, where he studied Finance & Political Science.  While at Rutgers he helped to launch UConnections.com an internet portal for college students merging the office campus community with the dorm.   While still in college Jay went to work for Morgan Stanley working on the development of their separately managing account business.  After leaving Morgan Stanley, Jay helped to launch MPI Professionals a New York based financial service consultancy which was later acquired by a publically traded multi-national.  More recently Jay was a founding partner of Trueview Services, an online monitoring solution targeted to the small business and residential market.

Jay has been a recipient of the Crain’s top 5 Entrepreneurs to Watch in New York received the 40 under 40 Award from Westchester County.

Jay currently resides in Manhattan and in his free time enjoys playing golf, tennis and running.  

Larry Scheinfeld – Partner

Larry Scheinfeld is a co-founder and partner of Zelkova Ventures.  Larry focuses most of his time in working with the current portfolio companies in determining strategic funding strategies and customer acquisition plans.

Prior to Zelkova Larry was a principal and financial advisor for the Quellos Group, a company specializing in hedge, private equity and real asset fund of funds, as well as specialty and hybrid offerings. Larry Scheinfeld founded the New York office of Quellos and was a member of its Board of Directors until the company was sold to Blackrock in October of 2007.

Larry currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Starlight Foundation, which provides quality of life programs for seriously and terminally ill children. Larry is an Overseer for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University and has donated to such nonprofit organizations as the Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia and Parkinsons Foundation, the Eagle Hill School, Cornell University, and the Forman School.

Outside his professional career, Larry Scheinfeld enjoys the Arts, playing golf, and fitness training. Larry Scheinfeld currently lives with his family in New York City. He and his wife have three children.

Mickey Lews - Venture Partner 

Mickey Lewis joined Zelkova in August 2011 to assist in the due diligence and management of start-ups.  Mickey has over twenty-five (25) years of high-tech experience, including significant sales leadership positions at Cisco Systems, Inc.  Starting in 1993, Mickey led Cisco’s sales to the New York City Government, insurance, and media companies.  From 2000 to 2002 Mr. Lewis served as the Country Manager for Cisco Switzerland, and from 2002 to 2005 served as the Operations Director responsible for SBC, now ATT.  From 2006 to 2008 Mickey led the world-wide integration of the sales teams of two acquired companies – P-Cube and Sheer Networks – increasing sales from $10 million to $100M in 3-years.  From 2008 to 2011 Mickey built and ran a world-wide team of senior salespeople closing multi-hundred million dollar complex deals.

Prior to joining Cisco, Mickey spent six years at Wang Laboratories. Mickey holds a BS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany, and an MBA from Columbia University. 

Mickey is married, lives in New Jersey and enjoys tennis.

 

Caroline Scheinfeld 

Caroline Scheinfeld is an associate at Zelkova Ventures. Caroline assists Jay with the acquistion of new investments. In the process, Caroline attends new entrepreneurial meetings as well as provides feedback on investment decisions. She actively contributes to the Zelkova blog sharing tech venture cap insight as well a re-capping events/experiences in the tech space. Caroline recently received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and was on Dean’s list.  She graduated from The Spence School, in New York City.
